Hey, I’m Roy McVeigh — chef and owner of Sonora Potts Point, a modern Mexican restaurant and bar tucked into the heart of Potts Point. I’ve worked in some of Australia’s most respected kitchens — Bathers Pavilion, Berowra Waters, and Bennelong — but at Sonora, I finally get to bring together everything I love: Australian produce, seasonal cooking, and my obsession with spice and agave.
I’m not Mexican, but I’ve travelled across spice markets, agave farms, and coastal cantinas, picking up flavours and stories along the way. At Sonora, we use Australian ingredients and let them collide with Mexican tradition — think Barramundi collars, Wagyu tacos with chickweed, and goat cheese cream with fermented honey.
