Let’s Talk Group Booking Cancellations at Sonora
At Sonora, we like to keep things simple and honest. If you’ve ever booked a group at a venue before, you’ve probably been asked to sign a contract outlining all the details — who, what, where, and when — along with a minimum spend commitment. For example, booking a party of 25 on a $100 menu usually means signing off on a $2,500 minimum spend, whether all 25 guests show up or not. It’s standard practice and helps venues cover potential losses, especially if they’ve turned away other bookings for your spot.
We do things a little differently.
Yes, we host lots of groups — but we don’t use formal contracts. Instead, we ask for plenty of notice if your numbers change, with a minimum of two days’ notice before your event.
If your group gets smaller, that’s totally fine — no minimum spend, no full charges. We just have a $50 per person cancellation fee for late changes (within 48 hours of the booking). That’s simply because we’ve been holding that space for you, and last-minute cancellations often mean lost opportunities for other guests.
